So, what does gaborone actually look like in map form? |
What I’ve got next is a series of maps of Gaborone itself, which are intended to give you a look at some of the places mentioned in the Mma Ramotswe books. We want to give you a sense of the geography over which Mma Ramotswe travels, and put Sandy's descriptions into a geographic perspective.
One last thing before we get to the maps, we've read that Gaborone should have the "G" pronounced as in the "ch" in the Scottish Gaelic word "loch" (or "lough") or in the Yiddish word "chutzpah", that is, with a slight guttural intonation and a more "ch" sound than the various "G" sounds in English. However, we're sure the earth won't burst into flames if you pronounce it with a hard "G". Well, we hope not, because that's how we pronounce it! |
