A brief comment on the English "gentry" and stolen land
Not wanting to get distracted from Bill's great work, I'll set aside for another time a discussion of the fact these "gentry" had already stolen the land for their estates, or were in the process of doing so over the next fifty to eighty years or so (oh, golly gosh, what a coincidence!) from the English peasantry (and, infamously, the Scottish and Irish peasantry, and probably the Welsh peasantry as well), thereby causing the so-called "crime crisis" or "convict crisis" that was largely responsible for the initial white settlement of this great continent.
